The Government of the Republic of Namibia or the Cabinet has passed a law in 1994, which were to protect the entire Artistic works. This law is called the Copyright and Neighboring Rights Protection Act of 1994, Act No.6 In Chapter 3, part 3 of the Copyright Act, Section 55-56 it is where the collecting Society like NASCAM has been established.This means that NASCAM was established through an Act of the Parliament. In 1994 few members registered with the Society, whose aim it was to protect and promote musical works.

Administration

NASCAM consist of 5 Staff Members who look after the daily activities at the office, the activities of NASCAM are monitored by a Board of Directors.
